COACH BIOGRAPHIES

KAYLA WANDSNIDER

Head Varsity Cheer

Kayla has been the head cheer coach for Middletown High School for 4 years, and previously coached at Harrison High School at the JV level for 8 years. Kayla is a 2010 Harrison High School Alumni, and has cheerleading experience for 25+ years, including cheering for a semi- professional team in Cincinnati in 2010. Kayla received All-American Cheerleader in 2008. 

 

Kayla received her Bachelors of Fine Arts (with a focus in Photography and Ceramics) and Art Education Licensure at the University of Cincinnati in 2015. In 2019 she graduated with her Masters of Creativity of Art in Art Education, also from the University of Cincinnati. Kayla has been an art teacher at Middletown High School for the past eight years.

Kayla says, "Middletown has shown me what it means to bleed purple and be part of a family. I am excited to continue to grow the cheerleading program and move it forward. I can't wait until the start this season! #GoMiddies!"

MAKINA GIBSON

Junior Varsity Cheer

ALYSSA MILLER

Freshman Cheer 

Alyssa has been the assistant coach for the past season and is now entering her first season as the head Freshman cheer coach. Alyssa is a 2021 Middletown Alumni and has 7 years of cheer experience, including 2 years of Varsity Cheerleading and Competition Cheerleading for the Middies.

Alyssa is currently working on her Bachelors of Science in Nursing at the University of Cincinnati. Alyssa is anticipating on graduating with her degree in the Spring of 2025. 

​

Alyssa says, "I am so honored to be able to coach and share my passion for cheerleading with our athletes. Returning to coach a program I once was a part of brings a huge amount of joy to my life. I am so excited to see what the future brings for the program and the school!"

CHRISTINE SORRELL

Assistant Cheer 

Christine graduated from Preble Shawnee High School in 2006 with 6 years of competitive cheer experience. She coached 7th and 8th grade cheer in Preble Shawnee School District for 2 years.

 

Christine attended Sinclair Community College and received her OPOTA (Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy) certification in 2010. She worked for New Lebanon Police Department and is currently employed with Middletown Police Department for the last 12 years where she spent time in the Special Operations Unit, Street Patrol, and is now currently one of the SRO's for Middletown High School for the last 2 years.

We are excited to have Christine be apart of our staff, as her background and knowledge in cheer brings a lot to our program.
