Tryout Checklist:

CHEER TRYOUTS
**Please note: could potentially change due to delays from MCSD, OHSAA, and/ or the state of Ohio. Tryouts are contingent on restrictions from OHSAA & orders that are put into effect by Governor DeWine. We will be keeping all necessary precautions to follow recommendations & guidelines from the Ohio Department of Health, OHSAA & Government officials.
PAPERWORK:​
All required paperwork is required by Monday, August 16th, 2021 at 6:00pm.

Failure to turn in the required paperwork by the deadline (August 16th at 6:00p), will disqualify an athlete from tryouts.

MANDATORY CLINICS:​
There will be two mandatory clinics for ALL grades on Monday, August 16th & Tuesday, August 17th from 5:30- 7:30pm. All candidates will be taught the tryout material (see information below). Both clinics will be held in Wade E. Miller Arena at Middletown High School.

TRYOUTS:
Tryouts will be held on Thursday, August 19th from 5:30- 7:30pm. All candidates must select a time slot for tryouts when checking in the second day of clinics. Candidates will try out in groups of 4, and should arrive to tryouts at least 15 minutes prior to their scheduled time slot (no one will be allowed into the area prior to that time).
DETAILS:

All girls MUST wear a white t-shirt (turned inside out if there is writing on it), black shorts, gym shoes, and have their hair all the way up in a ponytail (bow is optional).

Girls are NOT permitted to wear jewelry of any kind during the clinics or at tryouts.

All girls will be given a number at the first mandatory clinics that they will be required to bring & wear during the tryout (this is how each candidate will be identified to judges & coaching staff).

Tryouts are CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC. Anyone found on the premises during tryouts will result in their athlete being disqualified from tryouts.

MATERIAL:

​All of the material can be found on our YouTube Channel under the playlist “Comp Team Tryouts 21-22” (this will be published at least two weeks prior to the tryout date).

DANCE: All girls must perform the short dance that is posted online.​

CHEER: All girls will be required to perform the crowd cheer that is posted online.

JUMPS: All girls must perform a Toe-Touch, A Double Toe-Touch, and a Jump of Choice.

TUMBLING: Every athlete MUST complete some form of tumbling, this must be completed safely on a gym floor, without a spotter.

INTERVIEW: All girls will complete an interview during tryouts.

PAPERWORK: All girls must complete the required paper & submit it prior to 6:00pm on August 16th 2021 (may be emailed to middletowncheercoaches@gmail.com)-- the only required paperwork for Comp Team Tryouts are:

**You are able to learn the material on your own as soon as you’d like & use the clinics for review and questions and help. In fact this is highly encouraged!**
PHYSICAL: An updated physical signed by your family doctor needs to be completed & turned in prior to tryouts in order to be eligible to participate. You can pick up a physical form from the Athletic Office or download one from Final Forms. *Please note, we are not allowed to accept photos of a physical, you MUST turn in a hard copy!*

TRYOUT/ HANDBOOK CONSENT FORM: The tryout & handbook consent form must be signed by the candidate and a parent/ guardian.

RECOMMENDATION FORMS: Each candidate must have 1 recommendation forms from a teacher, previous coach, employer, etc. Any recommendation forms submitted by a candidate's family member, will not be reviewed. **We recommend all candidates submit at least 2, but are only required to have 1 submitted to be eligible**

2021-2021 CHEER HANDBOOK: This handbook contains all information, rules, procedures, expectations of athletes, contact information for coaches, etc. for the upcoming seasons.
